Default 04 c5 z i need pistons and lifters chime in experts?

not my car my brothers he has a 04 c5z but he needs lifters due to one shiting on his cam hes got a vengeance VRX6 238 240 .605 .609 112 LSA cam and ,,,

he also needs pistons one of his rings went bad according to machine shop

he will not be milling his heads so wht forged piston should he run to keep his stock compression

lifters i told him to go with "comp R" lifters witch is wht i am running on my c5z

but he was wondering if the ls7 lifters were any better
i know ls7s are like 140.00 for the set and
comp R lifters are 220.00 from tsp so help me help him decide thanks fellas

also the cam he has not ordered it yet but he will need the cam because according to them the lifter scratched the cam lobe up but that was the cam he was running i told him to get the same cam from vengeance

unless you guys suggest like a t rex cam or wht ever off the shelf cam thats about as good thanks in advance the car sits in the shop as we speak i need this info

Just about any forged piston will have valve reliefs. Which you will probably want with the tRex or similar.

With the t Rex I would mill the heads and run a thinner gasket and bring the compression up to 11:1. If it's at stock 10.5:1

No prob man. If the vengeance cam cleared the pistons, and this is only a temporary motor like you stated, I would just look for some stock replacement pistons, ls7 lifters and another vrx6 cam.

Now if it is gonna be semi permemamt, I would go with the mahle pistons which you used, same cam, ls7 lifters and a thinner gasket to make up for the valve reliefs.

But if it were me doing it, and I knew I was going to build another one a year or 2 later, I would go with some stock replacements and keep the costs as little as possible.

I am biased toward the ls7 lifters because I have used them multiple times and never had any problems, however, I do not have any experience with the comp r lifters so I cannot say bad or good.

From what I have heard about them, it is either hit or miss on The comp r's. The reason I have not tried them is because I tend to stick with what works...

thanks,
he did clear the the VRX6 cam and i will let him know to get the same camshaft again thanks ,,

i will tell him to go with the ls7 lifters thanks ,,
so i am sure about what lifters and cam to go with for his car,,

i got comp Rs when i did mine i guess i got good ones but if its a hit or miss we will order ls7s for sure,,

now,
about the pistons they have not confirmed about how much material is coming out the piston holes so ifs just a clean up hone the get the cross hatch back then i will just tell him to go with stock pistons it should not be a problem would it because of piston to bore tolerance,,,

thanks just not sure about the pistons yet if he can keep stock then we will go with those,,,

thats what i wanna know if he can keep stock piston size with just a clean up hone even though the bore is a little bigger thanks fellas almost done just deciding what pistons ,, i will also wait to see what they tell my bro about how much will be removed so that we can order pistons ..

Depending on how much has to come out. If the piston to wall is still in spec, stock size is fine. However, if for some reason the max .008 has to come out, stock replacements can be had in oversizes.
