If your pushrods are stock there is a good chance you bent one if you took the RPMs up.

Yea....i still do have the stock ones but the noise goes away after 1800 rpm....im not sure but they told me if it was a rod...the higher the rpms the more louder it would get right?

Oil pressure is normal at like 40-50psi and still runs really strong no hesitation or anything but i think it might be a lifter im not sure though alotof people say those ls1 are known to tick alot i only have.70,000 miles though so strange

I have the same problem with a 99 TA and 65k, and I too used mobile 1 oil and filter??? I thought about changing the filter to see of that helps. I guess I should cut my loses and change the filter out. I know exactly what your talkin about I still have excellent oil pressure and everything too.

I am curious to see what it is and what you do to fix it?

Post a video of the engine compartment, both sides of the engine while it's idling. It could be simply the injectors making noise while hot at low pulsewidth, or it could be valvetrain noise coincidental to the oil change but caused by damage.

Dump the Mobil 1 and try a conventional oil. I have same issue with a 11,000 mile car. Im running Mobil 1 5w-30 and a Wix filter. I am going to do the same when I get a chance. I wonder how many Mobil 1 users have the noise.

I had a similar experience with mobil 1 in my camaro. I'm not saying it was the oil, but I haven't used mobil 1 since (9 years ago).

I ended up changing my oil filter when I got home from work today, so far there has been a noticeable difference in the noise. I didn't have a lot of time to run it tonight but I drove it enough for the engine to get o a normal operating temp it's not my daily driver so I will run it more tomorrow. I am thinking I will go for an oil change even though this oil change has 90 miles on it.

I will update my findings tomorrow, hopefully this info will help the OP

I have a 2001 Formula with 108,500 miles. At around 100,000 I decided to get mine checked out because the ticking was from idle to around 1,600 with good oil pressure no issues at all. Got an LS6cam, LS7 lifters and C5R timing chain set put in it. The noise is still there and car has 40 PSI at idle so I just think it is a normal issue so I hope.

In my experience...which isn't as much as a lot of these guys, lifter problems tend to get worse with higher rpms, not go away. The cam spins faster at higher rpms, giving the lifters less of a chance of pumping up, causing them to fail more. I might go out and guess you fried a rocker. I've heard of bad rockers shutting up at high rpms. I can't guess why they do...perhaps a bearing is rolling over. Either that, or you spun a rod bearing. Would make sense if the oil wasn't right, and you raced the car. That would cause a lower end tapping however. Aluminum blocks really tend to carry noise, so really try to isolate it. Use the screwdriver method if need be.

There is a really good ls1tech thread on spun bearings. If you read through it, it almost defines your problem.

Interesting thread. I had a similar experience after an oil change. I put mobil 1 in my 03 dodge ram with a mobil 1 filter. It developed a tick almost immediately. Most noticeable on cold startup at idle. Once the rpms and/or temps went up, the noise would go away. I've since switched back to conventional oil, but the noise is still there. It's been about a year. I'm guessing in my case, it's a timing chain/tensioner/guide issue.

I'm experiencing the same thing after putting Mobil conventional 5w30 and a bosch filter in my car. Everything was gravy before the oil change and since then it has developed a light tapping sound. Oil pressure is fine and I haven't taken the car above 3K RPM since I completed the oil change.

I guess I will change to a different oil and filter and see what happens.

Does anyone have any more insight on this?

Same issue here. I put 5 quarts of 10w30 mobile 1 high mileage and a half quart of regular mobile 1 10w30 with a mobile 1 filter Friday. It is now sunday and this morning I noticed a pretty significant ticking in the valve train when I started my car.. WTF

Me too. It wasn't an LS engine but a Nissan V30 turbo, it didn't cause me any problem but it was annoying.
