Default I have 6 grand, LS1 or LT1?

Ive heard a little good and bad from both fbodys.

For the LS1 i know it's famous for having a weak block. And not being able to hand or pressure unless it's involved in the top end.

For the LT1 i know it has substantial torque but lacks a little high end, but nothing some bolt ons can't fix.

Anyone?

ls1 for sure, their a lot more efficient and just as easy to build if not easier and cheaper. lt1 are a thing of the past. Not saying their a bad motor but ls1's are just a better design. I think most will agree

LS1, the blocks arent weak? im not sure why youve heard that! they do have less bottom end torque than the lt motor but they are a superior design.
An LS motor is going to be stronger in stock form and handles bolt ons just as well, if not better. Not trying to start any sort of LT V LS butthurt session just stating facts.

In before the butthurt.

The LS motors are superior in every way compared to the LT1, which is basically just a sbc. Pull the oil pan off both motors and tell me which bottom end is stouter. There is no comparison.

Ls1 have 6 bolt mains. They are very strong. Gear driven oil pump under the timing chain cover, can write a page of great things about the ls1. There's guys on the Corvette forum with 400,000 plus miles on their motors. They respond better to mods. And don't forget lighter. And no crappy opti spark.
Like other said, I'm not trying to put down the LT motor, GM just advanced the technology.

I've wasted two attempts to understand what you were trying to say, and I want my minute back.

They actually have more bottom end torque, the lt1 just reaches peak torque at a lower rpm..... Jussayin

I say ls1 because you dont have to deal with POS opti. Lt1's do sound SEXY though.

my vote goes to a 4.6 Mustang, then you can hang with liter bikes!

The motor will be going into a former 3800 Camaro. Anyway. here's my pros and cons of both

LT1 PROS:
Sound
Torque
Block strength
Cooling system
Price

LT1 CONS:
Optispark
Gas mileage

LS1 PROS:
More valve pressure release action
Handles nos better but i won't use nos.

How do you guys figure the LS1 is much better choice?

Also i want to stroke the LT1 to a 454.

Well first off do you know all it takes to change out a v6 to v8 car it takes a lot thats what I was going to do until I realized all the **** you have to do. An ls1 will be better all around and yea opti sucks lol. ls1 will have more aftermarket for it.

Also lt1 to 454 I'm pretty sure cant be done correct me if I'm wrong ?

But I would really reconsider because half your budget will go into things for the swap. Let alone if you still need to pass emissions !
