Default 5.3 vs 5.7 builds

Ok I have a 5.3 iron short block sitting I also have the stock motor that is in my car now (daily driver) with 164k I am debating on which one to do a forged rod and piston setup on if I do the 5.3 I want to do the wiseco 3.780 pistons and &k1 rods setup if I go with my stock ls1 I will do same setup just in a 3.905 piston

The reason for the debate is within a the next year I'm wanting to go with a turbo setup

Also how much of n/a horsepower difference would I see between the two motors considering I used exact same head, cam and bolt on set up

What are your concerns with the 5.7L that your thinking of going with the 5.3L ? The 5.7L is more cubic inch, and 70#'s lighter... 5.7L gets my vote.

Are you planing on daily driving this after the forged motor or is this turning into a toy ?

Bore the iron 5.3 to 3.898 and have The best of both worlds. Strength from the iron block and more cubes.

The reason I wanted to keep the 5.3 to a 3.78 bore is because If I ever have to rebuild again or decide A different path I can either
throw in a 4.0 crank and make it a 363 cu or bore again to a 346 like mentioned or 383 setup

I just like how many more option I have with the 5.3 block being theres more meat

I no the benefits of going with the ls1 bore u have a million piston options

If you bore the 5.3 out to a 5.7 now, you will still have room to go a little bigger later for another rebuild on it later.....I vote bore the 5.3 and build an iron 5.7 out of it....

Has anyone here done the 4.0 crank with 3.78 rod before calspeed and Performance is the only site besides wiseco direct for a stroker kit with a 3.78 and 3.8 bore keep in mind wanting to go turbo down the road if leaving more meet on the cylinder walls

The 5.3L iron blocks have all kinds of Meat in the cylinder walls ,,,,,,,,,,there was a thread in this forum maybe 6-months or so ago where the op said He bored his iron 5.3L to the 6.0L bore and sonic checked it and said the cylinder walls were still thicker than a gen1 350 .060" over . Bore the 5.3L to 5.7L and turbo it and have no worries .
