Default 402/8 budget built for boost

So I am kicking around the idea of a 402 or 408 built for a f1a

i need some ideas tho. what did you go with?

did you pull a 6.0 out of a truck and work the 317 heads and forge the internals or did you order from tsp or some where. being a budget i would think that a salvage yard would be the route to go.

what internals did you go with
what heads and cam and intake did you use?
does it matter if it was a 2wd or 4wd truck?
what all do i need to swap from my ls1?

pictures and dyno charts and time sheets would be nice just to make me drool

03 6.0 truck block here punched and stroked ro 408 with fully forged bottom end.
Eagle crank and H-beam rods
Mahle pistons
King bearings

I'm running 12.5:1 compression with potted 241 heads milled to 57cc chambers.

In your case since you want to go FI is just do a quick clean up mill on 317's port them and maybe do a little clean up in the chambers.

What are you putting it in, what kind of power are you trying to make, and is weight an issue?

Well id like to be putting down 500-600. Of course it shouldnt be a problem with f1a and a 402/408 iron block.

Something streetable that isnt anything to laugh at on the strip. Id like to see 10s at full weight

How much was your stroker kit plus any other costs like block prep/machine work, etc? Looking into a budget 408 build currently.

Honestly if you figure every little thing in including the port work (that I did ) and machine work I'm probably in for close to $8,000-$9,000 throttle body to oil pan

If it were mine, and on a budget, I would do an Iron 402. That way you could keep the strength of the thicker cylinder wall and just turn up the boost...
