Default Recommended parts for cam install?

I am going to be ordering a cam soon and i was curious about a few things.

Should I do the oil pump since im already going to be in there? If so any recommendations?

What gears should i run? The cam im looking at is the Brute speed blower cam

kind of limited questions... depends on how much you are willing to spend, what cam, how many miles you have on the car, is this an M6 or A4?

i would at least start with a new timing chain either ls2, or double roller. yes oil pump while you are there... why not? can pick up a ported one for cheap. and i would change valve springs. depending on lift and miles on car, lifters are a good idea as well, but that consists of pulling the heads.

why did you choose a FI cam? are you going FI soon?

and gears depends on your goals and again, is this for a M6 or A4?

I didn't think 350 was too much for just the cam...

I have about 60,000 miles on the car and it's an m6. I was going to get a new timing chain as well, I should have put a little more in my original post.

The springs listed in the cam package seem pretty good I haven't looked into different ones though. I haven't looked into lifters at all but I would like to avoid pulling the heads unless I'm going to get new heads.

I would like to go the pro-charger route within a year or two. But I'm not really stuck on it the more I have been looking into it, ive realized I can build a pretty nasty n/a motor for the same price.

Thanks for the help

The springs listed with the cam are Comp 29926s, which have an open spring pressure of 470 pounds. I would not use an open spring pressure much above 400 pounds with stock rockers. The question that remains however, is whether that cam requires all that spring pressure to control it.

Your car is an 01 which came with the better pump but since your already in that area why not spend a little more and get a new ported pump. Here is a good link to study

tsp 2.5 heads and tsp 233/239 cam. Great street combo and very budget friendly.

http://www.tickperformance.com/tick-...grade-package/

This is what a complete package would consist of.

I don't remember the exact cost as it was 3 years ago but I'll PM you tonight when I find some receipts. I put down 430 before my TD's though. Trying to save for fab rear so I can start going to track.

I recommend that you get a new oil pump, I did my cam swap and after 5 days my oil pump shut so i had to go down there and do it all over again, I'm still waiting on the new one to come in the mail.

My blower cam on an N/A car typically adds 60 rwhp. I've had quite a few people use it N/A while they're saving up for a supercharger. The Comp 26926 valvesprings work very well with this camshaft and stock or aftermarket rocker arms. I've never encountered a problem with them, and the added spring pressure is good insurance when someone is running 16+ psi of boost. Bob

I had my cam installed at 63,000 miles. I had everything replaced that I could. Valve seals, oil pump, timing chain, new gaskets. Thing's already apart, might as well put new back in.
