Go ls7. Their cheap enough. I reused my stock 62k mile lifters when I did my cam only to have one fail 9k miles later. Buy new ones and save yourself this headache

aftermarket ones are better, some of them are considerably better..

I would take a set of comp lifters any day over the factory ones

and I would take Morel racing lifters over the comp lifters...

the question become how crazy of a cam, and how high of an rpm are you going to spun the engine.
under 6800 and a cam that fits under stock heads with no valve reliefs?... stock Gm lifters are fine

start getting into big lift, large lobes, or higher than 6800 rpm, you need to step it up..

if you destroyed a lifter, you most likely need a new cam

Whatever you do, do not use used lifters on a new cam. I also use LS7 lifters with my F14 HL cam, 232/234 .646/.612 114lsa for 30k miles with no problems. I will using morel lifters this time for my stroker per my builders suggestion. Good luck

No I have a lazy lifter I think. Tap comes and goes as it pleases but is loud when it decides to tap. I did ruin a rocker and a valve stem were the rocker rides so I already have to get that fixed. Your rite. I may have torn the cam up. I guess I'll know when I get it apart.

Aftermarket lifters are alot better, if you buy the right ones. Your application probably doesn't require them though. I would recommend the OEM LS7 lifters for this type of build, they are very affordable and a major improvement.

What the heck would cause that??

I must say....A lifter's anatomy isnt that complicated (spring, piston, and cup).

What ever happened to that lifer, I doubt it was because it was a "stock lifter". I know the LS7 lifter's skirt goes all the way around, but many of Comp Cams and others use that exact design as above.

idk what caused it, spinning the motor to 6800rpm multiple times maybe. all the lifters were in pretty ruff shape. obvious oiling issues were going on, the engine only had 74k on it.
