Default 227/235 lsr cam on 243 headed lq4?

heads have had the bowls blended, valve job, and pockets ported..

would this cam be optimal for my lq4? heads are not milled and i can get this cam for $250 from a guy who had it laying around after selling his ls3 block. The lobes are in real good shape (ran it for 3k miles) and none of the lobes are pitted or anything.

he's also got a 233/239 cam as well but i figure that's not tame enough for a "street driven car"

keep in mind i've had a few cammed vehicles, i know what to expect, would this cam be bearable? i'm planning on running a yank 3600 and a decent sized Oil cooler from where i work.

Since you have a pretty low static compression ratio I'd like to see you use the 227/235.

What is the LSA and ICL of that cam?

Ok it looks like there is no advance ground into the cam.

Install it on a 110 ICL.

I would also go with the 227/235 cam as it has the new LSL lobes that are a lot quieter. That cam has a 109 ICL.

Not speaking directly to you when I say this, but this is something I see a lot that needs to be addressed.

Guys when you're buying aftermarket camshafts they are purposely meant to be used at their set valve events they are specified with.

When you do not degree a cam you are nearly guaranteeing that you will not be using those specified events and therefore not utilizing to the fullest what that cam can do for your application.

To not degree a cam is like not smelling school cafeteria food before putting it into your mouth. You might end up not liking what you shovel into your mouth if you don't check to see if you like the smell of it first.

Sounds like Russ is familiar with this cam and that has advance ground into it already. If that is the case then install it straight up dot to dot, but STILL degree it!

Timing sets can and will be off and it happens way more than most people think it does.
