Default Oil Pump Question

Was thinking of buying the TSP Ported LS6 oil pump but after reading various sources, it seems that a ported LS1 oil pump flows/pumps just as well as the aftermarket oil pumps. Is this true? In one of my LS books they ported the LS1 oil pump and used it without any problems.

Let me know what you guys think, and anyone who has ported their LS1 oil pump chime in and let me know how its worked out for you. I dont really think its so much a "port" job as it is more "blending" certain spots.

Porting oil pump/ buy high pressure volume pump is overrated in my opinion unless you're building a race motor turning a lot of rpm or a lot of g forces...typical street motor is fine with an ls6 or melling m295...

The only thing that I can see being a disadvantage is a thread in this forum 6 months or so ago a guy showed a graph that showed factory GM pumps pressure dropping off drastically above 6500rpm's and the Melling pumps continuing to increase in pressure to 8000rpm's . I don't know how true but I imagine it is true .
