Default How do these cyl pressures sound to you guys? cyl to cyl ok?

Took the readings on a stock LS1. Haven't done a leakdown, but with numbers like this i would think it isn't warrented..the only thing that has me concerned is the min of 162 and the max of 200 (within 10% is what I understand to be the norm, this is 19%! ) thoughts? engine runs like a champ.

1 162
3 168
5 176
7 168

2 165
4 200
6 169
8 165

Those 160s are kind of low, while that isn't terrible it aint great either...might need a hone a re-ring or some slightly bigger pistons...

If you aren't looking for every single horsepower, its fine. Actually, if you were to hone and rering it, you probably wouldn't gain 10-15 hp. Not worth the money and aggrivation.

LOL 165 is completely normal, The odd ball is the 200. Might have carbon built up in that cylinder for some reason, I wouldnt worry about it.

I agree. Just tested my car and all were between 158-164. I was worried but the shop guy said it was fine. He said the testing methods can make the numbers range from 150-200 but the individual differences are what to watch. For reference, mine seemed low but are on fresh rebuild (~3,000 miles).

BINGO...150-165 would be a normal reading on a stock motor. High numbers usually mean carbon build up. Few years ago I checked my girlfs Camaro and found 200 plus in every cylinder and the car ran terrible! After decarboning it ran great and the compression dropped to 160-165...............
