Default Please give me a Recommendation of which Oil Pump to go with.....

I have been out of the racing scene for a long time, last time I modified my car was in 2002 and my car was a daily driver from 1998 to 2005. I really havent used my car since 2005 and just turn it on every now and then.

I have a 1998 transam, I have recently had the urge to bring it back to life, not that there was ever anything wrong with the car.

I took it out for a drive recently, and after driving it for a while in the city I noticed my oil pressure guage starts bouncing back and forth, when im at a light or at idle the oil pressure guage drops to zero and stays there until I give it gas. While the oil pressure guage is down and at 0 the car still feels fine like nothing is wrong with it, it doesnt turn off or give me any problems.

So I am thinking I might aswell change my oil pump its still the 98 stock oil pump. please recommend me an oil pump you all would beleive is good for my setup.

Here is everything I have on my 98 ls1 t/a as far as I can remember....

Stock oil pump, please recommend one.
Stock fuel pump, please recommend one.

MTI 382 Stroker
MTI Heads and Cam
Stock injectors
Long tube hooker headers
MTI throttle body
MTI MAF
MTI lid
Ls6 intake
411 gears
Moser 12 bolt
4400 torque converter
3inch ypipe w cutout

All motor
Best 1/4mi time 11.01 at 122mhp-124mph

I knew this car could hit 10s just never did do to tranny slipping at the time.

Back in the day my car was a dailing driver capable of driving 6hr long road trips with no problems, I always thought it was a well built motor.

Today I feel kinda clueless when it comes to ls1 performace,

What oil pump would be good, im thinking I should get a fuel pump aswell, which should I go with.

Personally, I'd yank it out anyway. Texas speed ported LS6 for the oil pump.

You asked about a fuel pump recommendation: I'd go with a Racetronix 255 with the hotwire kit.

Sounds like a great car with very tasteful mods to say the least. I'd hate to see your motor die due to 150 dollar part. Whether it's actually the issue or not... IDK. I sure as hell wouldn't trust the stock one though.

I'm more than willing to bet the issue is the o-ring on the oil pump / pick up tube. Yours is old now, and likely shrank a bit. You can either run a few thousand miles with some quality "high mileage" oil to swell it back up and create a better seal so it isn't sucking air, or you can just change it out with the new pump and be done with it, and sleep peacefully at night. We're talking about a 5 dollar o-ring here....

Schumanns Dynamic Performance LSSSRXV LS1 LSX street strip oil pump it uses a ball bearing instead of a piston for the pressure relief . Cost is $175 I don't have any personal experience with this pump but it sounds like a safer way to go ,,,,,,,,maybe there are some reviews on it somewhere

What oil should I use, I remember in the beginning I used to use 5w30 and I can't remember if I switched it to 10w30, of course it was fully synthetic and used either mobile1, royal purple, or ams oil....

I think I am just going to go ahead and replace the oil pump with the Texas speed ls6 ported oil pump since I still have the stock one.

Any recommendations are appreciated, thanks.

Valvoline 10w30 VR1 Conventional. You might want to find out your engine cleareances first though, and review with your builder. They may recomment the 20w50
