Default Massive oil leak... HELP

My car basically bled itself out from the movie theatre to home. The only thing I can think is that maybe one of the speed bumps messed something up however I went over them at a snails pace. The oil is leaking so bad that there is a solid trail the entirety of the route back to my house and then a pool underneath. It looks to be pooling around the area where the filter is located however the filter itself is dry. Last time I tried to start it and then stop it to see if I could spot the leak I heard a squirting noise like air and fluid was being blown out from somewhere. By this time the pan was empty though, just wondering what some expert thoughts were on the source so I can give the mechanic some leads. By the way 2000 z28 a4 89k

Mine was leaking pretty good. When I looked under it was coming down the back of the motor. Turned out to be the oil pressure sending unit which is right behind the intake manifold. When I removed the intake the sending unit looked good. Until I tried to unclip the electrical connector and the sending unit came apart

Ok that sounds like a good place to start. My gauge has been pegged to the right for a couple weeks too....sign of impending failure??? Is there any way to swap the sensor without removing the intake mani? Thanks for your reply

you need to get it in the air filled with the cheapest oil you can find
and figure out where it is really leaking from.

Could be but I don't want to say for sure. When mine was leaking it was still showing pressure and still reacted the way it's supposed to.

if you ran it dry while it was running you better start praying those rod bearings aren't spun

Noooo never that. Once the leak was discovered it was only started to move the front onto the flatbed and then again once on stands to see if I could pinpoint the leak. The low oil light didn't even come on until I was putting it on the truck.

I retraced my route and discovered that the leak started mid route. Not on a speed bump. Are there any fragile lines that are known to rupture while driving??

Do what this guy said. Nobody on here is going to be able to tell you exactly where your oil leak is. There are a number of places and possibilities. Get under it and find the leak.

I'd start with the OPSU first

Default Update..

So it was the OPSU. It had broken completely in half creating a nice little expensive *** fountain. Anyways for any other noobs out there. When it went the oil ran down the driver side of the transmission and flowed off the trans pan and onto the drivers side of the y pipe. Only leaks during and shortly after driving since it needs the pressure and my gauge was pegged at maximum at all times. Hopefully this saves someone else some time and money.
