Default 5.3, thinking of cam upgrade

I have a Chevy 5.3 that Im putting in a 72 Chevelle with a 4l80e. What kind of cam could is use? I plan on using the car as a DD in the summer months of the midwest US and some autocross/pro-touring events. I found a cam i like but after looking at threads on here people say its a bark and not bite. So I found another one I thought might be a little better.

I Like it b/c of the sound, not sure what kind of power it will make. I plan on having LT headers, dual exhaust, ported TB, CAI and tune. Didn't have very good reviews on some of the forums here. Also i plan on using the stock TC becuase I want to go to a t56 eventually.

Second cam is

I think this will be easier to tune and more street-able. I cant find anyone who uses Howard cams on LS motors I searched everywhere. Is there a reason for that?

Can someone help give me and idea of power numbers with both cams and my bolt-ons? or if you guys have better suggestions what are they? keep in mind Im on a budget

Also I plan on using these springs

thanks for any help

There are much better options. That cam has negative overlap, yeah easy to tune but will e down on power as well.
a
224/224 .609/.600 110+4LSA will do much better. That with a good set of springs like 1511 PSI

i would go with something a little bigger, i have something similar to a 228r cam in my 5.3 and love it it daily drives great. i think the specs where duration .224 .228 and lift was .581 .588. with a 114 lsa. im also running the 1511 psi valve springs and they work very well but i would recommend getting some brian tooley springs/pushrods the hardened pushrods he sells are like 100 bux shipped and his spring packages are cheap as well (but a very good product).

Indeed.

A 228r will get the job done also with a set of Brian Tooley Springs

I guess what Im looking for is the biggest bang for my buck on a cam upgrade spending under $700 with springs and pushrods. so whats the best cam I can have in that price range for the set up I plan on using

Daily driver and local events
5.3 stock w/ bolt-ons and tune
4l80e what stall?
and 3.73 gear ratio

So far Ive seen summits stuff, brain tolleys stuff and Texas speed
you guys mentioned a couple cams where can i find them? Anymore companies I should be looking at?

btw thanks for the help guys

you might want to check out some of brian tooley's specials he can even custom spec you a cam, or you can give him the specs that predator-z gave you. i would recommend a 3000-3500 stall
