what all should be upgraded when doing a cam install?
i was thinking about getting a trick flow timing chain & gear, fast 39lb injectors and a texas speed v3 cam. is there anything else i should do when doing a cam install. also is the v3 cam a good choice? the car is not a daily driver it is a street/strip car. id like to be around 450+ hp.

Valve springs and hardened pushrods. Also, if you have a few miles on the car, you might want to replace the oil pump too. Personally, I'd tak a look at the Tick Performance cams.

I would do pushrods, valvesprings, timing chain, oil pump, and of course oil and gaskets. And +1 on contacting tickperformance. Theyve been very helpful in the past, and i just sent them an email today. Im also looking into getting a cam from them.

You might consider this cam, it's made 450+ in 2 different cars with stock LS6 heads and intake.

For most cam swaps that include the springs and pushrods I normally also do, oil pump, timing chain, lifters, gaskets, and sometimes a under drive pulley depending on application.
Also check out running the white top injectors out of 3.8L supercharged grand prix's and regals. Or you can have your injectors re-sized by Fuel Injector Connection.

[QUOTE=02silverbulletZ28;17583066]what will this do for me? also where can i get them. sorry for all the ?s guys i was always big into building diesels this is a new world for me im trying to soak up as much knowledge as possible[/QUOTon the stock rockers, the needle bearing are not covered with a lip to hold them together. sometimes the needle bearing will work themselves out and cause alot of problems. the upgrade has stronger c-clips holding the rocker stud on and the needles are covered with a longer lip.
here is one of many threads https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...n-upgrade.html
here is a video on how to do it
some say the summit brand is better.

Id definitely do the ls6 oil pump, ls2 timing chain, gaskets, pusbrods (hardened) and go ahead and slap double beehive valve springs. You can never be to safe. I've never used an underdrive pulley but I had a couple buddies that installed them and they say that it was a pointless part. A4 or m6? If a4 I recommend a big stall before you get a cam. Hopefully I helped!
