Default Estimated stock lifter life on my cam and springs?

I'm currently running a LSL 227/235 .614/.621 113+2 cam, with new BTR .660" platinum double springs, and 7.450 pushrods, 6800 rpm rev limiter. The motor has 119k on it, ~50k of it with that cam and, previously, patriot gold dual valve springs. It used to be a daily driver now it's just a toy.

I'm wondering what kind of life the stock lifters have with this setup. New heads aren't in the budget anymore so it's either park the car until next year or pull the heads just to replace the lifters if they're at the end of their expected lifespan.

Motor sounds fine. No lifter tap. When I swapped the valve springs the pushrods and valve tips were in great shape. I've found it very difficult to find any information regarding stock ls1 lifter life, especially in relation to different cam profiles and spring rates.

Anyone?

It's all just a guess as there really isn't any definite answer. Would your cam and springs lower their life? Absolutely. But to what who knows. If everything sounds fine I say just keep running it.

I wouldn't touch it if it works fine.

The BTR Platinum springs are ~400 lbs open & don't have crazy open pressures like the Comp 26926 springs. And use a performance 10W30 oil such as Joe Gibbs Hot Rod, Valvoline VR1, Royal Purple HPS etc. Do NOT use the so called "new car formula oil" in an engine with a performance cam & higher rate valve springs.

Since your valve train & lifters are quiet now, you won't have any problems with your set up. Just use the proper oil and change it every 3000 miles.

Does that mean Mobil 1 0w-40 Euro and German Castrol 0w-30 are not recommended? I'm running Mobil 1 0w-40 and was going to switch to German Castrol.

Not at all for a performance camshaft & high pressure valve springs + higher than stock RPM.

I hear German Castrol is a good choice. Which is odd considering how strict the Germans are about their road going cars.

M1 0W40 is still a better oil than the regular M1 stuff. It's great for a stock to moderate roller cammed engine.

But something like Valvoline VR1 has a much higher ZDDP content, specifically for protection of old flat tappet engines. It should work great for moderate to aggressive roller applications as well. Not really necessary for milder roller applications though.
