Default oil weight

Building a 6.0 and need suggestions on what oil weight to run. Rod bearings have clearances of .0022 to .0025 and main bearings of .0021 to .0024. I will be using a Melling oil pump 10295 and i live in south georgia where it is mostly hot. Thanks

Are you planning on boosting the motor at any point? If not 10-30 synthetic IMO

20-50 royal purple. Don't use a fram filter, they come apart.

These engines should not see anything heavier than 10W-30 weight oil regardless of use or location temperature. Once the engine stabilizes at running temps, the outside temps become irrelevant.

THIS^ Reach for a Mobil1 extended, Wix/CarQuest, Hastings, K&N etc. filter.

And NEVER use any additives. Oils are carefully blended & tested by their makers-don't ruin it with other junk.

Ls 30 here
Drag week 100 degree temps oil pressure and temps looked no different than a 60 degree day. With those clearances I would not want a thick oil

the thicker the oil on DD cars = spun bearing from my experience. i would stay with 5w30syth or syth blend oil. i would try 5w30 then go 1 step heavier next oil change and see which runs smoother after you break it in first.

Don't know why anyone would run 15w40 in a LS platform. I run that in my Gen 1 juice engine but I build it with some loose clearances. I'm guilty or 10w30 when it gets hot in the LS but 5w30 would probably suffice. BTW, I use Mobile 1 & Wix gold filters.
