Default MTI Stage 2R Ls1 Heads

Hey you guys, i'm new to all this. Anyways, I was wondering if any of you guys were running the MTI Stage 2R Ls1 Heads, and there Stealth II Cam. I was thinkiing about making these ugrades to my car, and was hoping to get back some information on how reliable, what sort of horsepower increase I would see with this set up and proper tune?

I was hoping to break the 400+ horsepower mark, and im pretty sure this set up will put me far above it. Another question, is there anything I need to ugrade with my transmission (remember its a stock A4) to handle this new power?

Final question. With the MTI Stealth II cam, will it sound like I have a cam, or will it be as advertised and be very stealthy? I have read reviews on this on here, but it seemed 50/50 to me. Seemed like for some it does sound like stock, and for others, the cam didnt sound anywhere near to stock.

Thanks You guys.

MTI has very reputable heads, a little expensive though IMO. ABSOLUTE SPEED will make a better set cheaper. Absolute flows their heads with an LS6 intake. So the flow advertised is the flow you will run on your engine. Many others do not do that or use a 4.0 inch bore for testing wich will give u higher flow #'s but in reality (on motor) they flow less. So investiguate.
Questions to ask:

1- Are they flowed with 28*
2- What is the bore used for testing? (should be 3.9x)
3- Are you using an LS6 intake during testing?

With the data you'll be able to compare heads VS heads and make your decision.

The Stealth II 224/220, 0.581/0.581 116 lsa is a good street strip cam. Sounds tame (Is not), pulls like a demon till 6800 rpm with a nice flat 400rwhp curve from 5800 or so.
With bolt ons and "good" tune you'll make 400+.Of course don't forget traction.

If you need details about this cam, PM "Colonel" on this forum he is the brain behind it's design.

I'm more than happy with my MTI Stage 2E heads and X1 cam.

thanx alot for the info, I'll do some more research on the heads, to find out which one is truly the better buy. Also, do I need to upgrade my transmission or my rearend? I still have the stock A4 tranny and the stock 10 bolt. I think the rear is a 3.23 (not too sure.) Anyone have info on this matter?

A higher stall torque convertor will benifit the automatic, possibly more than a Heads/Cam.

O yea you will need a stall and just beef up the rear. If you spray it on top you will need to rebuild the tranny and a 12-bolt. Thats what I did. MTI Rocks!!!! I have had mine for 2 years now with no problems. MTI built me a nice ride. My bottom is still stock for now!! Even though they are alittle high I would stay with them. I will when I get my stroker!

Give MTI a call, I'm sure they could recommend the right verter for that combo.

How much you hear the cam will depend on your exhaust setup. BTW the 2E heads will work just fine with the stealth cams unless you want to go to a bigger cubic inch motor later. My MTI setup works great.

With stageII heads and MTI SSII, I would get something in the neighbourhood of TCI 4000 or vig 3800.
A T/A girdle for the rear+LCA+Torq. Arm + some poly sway bushings should hold your 10 bolt for awhile.
I've been running mine on juice for 1.5 years, no problem.
