Default Low Oil Pressure...Fix or Part Out?

I have a 2 part question here. I just recently bought a 2000 SS to sell. It's idling at 20-25 psi and will come up to around 35-40 psi when revved. I haven't drained the oil yet to check for metal, but there wasn't any sign of it on the dipstick. The oil pressure sensor has already been replaced and didn't change anything. If we drain the oil and find metal(indicating bearing failure), I'm going to take the car down to a roller and sell everything else separately.dum

Here's the questions: 1) What do you think could be the problem? 2) Should I Part it out or fix to sell?

Here's what all it has:

2000 Chevrolet Camaro SS with 147k on the body, 30k on the fully rebuilt LS1, and 1500 miles on 6-speed trans. (Have receipts)

Mods are:

I would check oil pressure with a mechanical gauge first, then pull the timing cover and see if the O ring got pinched.

Agree. Put a mechanical gauge on it and see where the pressure is.

Then drain the oil and check for fairy dust.

Last, pull the timing cover and just go with a new o-ring or even oil pump.

Do you have any concrete info on what went into the rebuild? My brother ended up with very low pressure in a purchased car and we suspect the builder used the wrong bearings causing higher clearances and lower pressure.

Since I'm kinda new to this LS motor stuff, but that would be around normal for a small block chevy. What are normal LS pressures?

On a stock pump you should see 35-40 psi @ hot idle, and 60 psi at wide open throttle. I'm running a Melling pump in my 5.3L LM7 and I see 50 psi @ hot idle and 75 psi at wide open throttle.

Sorry fellas, it's hard to find time throughout the day with a little one running around. Lol. Anyway, those numbers were taken with a mechanical gauge. Our first suspicion is a pinched or cut O-ring. I have pulled the dipstick and there was no signs of metal, and the engine doesn't make any strange noises. So an oil change and cut the filter open is next. I do have all the paperwork for the total rebuild. The shortblock was done by Rockville Ring and Bearing Services. For some reason, the PO said that he used "Toyota silicone on the used cam plate".

I had this same problem after I cammed my car just 3 weeks ago. Now my car wont stay on unless I give it gas and when I let off it turns off. I checked the oil dip stick and seen little small silver metal shavings. My oil pressure wont even go up when try to start it. I just got an new 01 block from a friend for $500 and rebuilding my cam build.
