Default Is the LQ4/9 sleeved?

Stupid question but my mechanic is telling me that the 6.0 LQ9 iron block is sleeved, as are all iron blocks just like aluminum ones.
I thought iron blocks weren't sleeved!

Your mechanic is wrong. You CAN sleeve an iron block, but they aren't from the factory.

Your mechanic sounds like the retards at auto zone and advance. Do yourself and your car a favor and find one that can speak intelligently. I would say its possible for certain iron blocks to be sleeved but ours aren't.

Yeah just what I though. He was saying it so confidently that he made me think I could be wrong.

Oh well...it just amazes me how someone could be in a profession for decades and not know fundamental things in it.

Or that 11.5 to 1 compression is to much for pump gas.

The mistake is not that odd. If you look at one after you take the head off the gasket leaves a mark on the top of the bores that almost makes it look like it's a sleeve.

On this note, I have an LQ block that was built at 4.030" and a piston melted. It won't clean up at 4.035" and I'm torn between punching it out to 4.060" and sleeving that one bore. Leaning towards the latter since it will be ~1000 RWHP FI motor. Discuss.

This has nothing to do with anything, but the videos I've seen of your car, that thing moves out.

LOL thanks! Not at the moment though, re-re-building a turbo.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about. This is the LQ in my dining room, next to the torn apart T56 (not shown).
