Default Cutting TFS valve spring seats.

I have a set of TEA trickflow 245's with K-800 springs intalled at 1.790. I need to set them up around 1.810 - 1.825. How much can the valve spring seats be safely cut? On my invoice says they have 1.550 locators but I checked and they are 1.46 x .062 thick .569 ID and they fit pretty snug. Spring seats are probably 1.48 diameter. I couldn't find any thinner locators that match this size. Thanks in advance.

Take the seats to a machine shop and have them grind the backs or cut the backs by 0.030". If they are competent in any way it will be no problem.

PAC also has +.050" valve locks p/n L8114 that you could possibly use and then shim the remaining amount.

Brian,

I doubt the retainers are LS 7 degree, probably super 7's, which we do not offer a lock for.

I got them from TEA about 3 years ago with LS3 intake valves. How can I tell if I can use the different locks?

Go to PAC Racing online catalog. Pg. 33 has a lock standards measurement for most common locks. You will be measuring the cone of the retainer to find this info out.

They're standard 7 degree style retainers, so the PAC +.050" locks should work.

If they are Std 7 you will need the L8153, if they are LS style 7 then the L8114 brian said will work.

Thanks guys. Was that a conformation that I need the standard 7's? PAC-L8153 I looked in the PAC catalogue and it doesn't show how to tell the difference between standard 7 and LS 7 locks. How do I tell?

Ok great. thanks Brian. Can I get those and a set of seals from you? .569 guides. Intake and exhaust seals are a different color. I think one is brown and the other black.
