Default Hey, what's that hose do?

Hi everyone.

02 WS6 just turned 100k, so I thought I'd have some work done.

Had a small oil leak, and a little bigger (auto) tranny leak, so I had the real main seal replaced, and the transmittion filter replaced.

Also had the spark plugs changed.

Got the car back from the shop, was driving down the road where they were doing some new construction, and I heard I nice loud bang and rattle from underneath the car.

About 10 miles latter, my service engine light came on, I have a code, p0157, O2 sensor current low, bank 2, sensor 2.

I get down under the car, and I notice that I'm dragging around a little vacuum hose, maybe a quarter inch inside diameter, from what looks like the passenger side near the tranny.

I haven't brought it back to the mechanic yet, and I haven't got completely underneath it yet either, but I was just wondering:

Does anyone have any idea where this hose was originally suposed to go?

Thanks,

Andrew

bank 2 sensor 2 should be the O2 sensor after(downstream) the cat. Is the sensor still there or was it broken off ? That 'hose' could be the O2 wire protective piece.

Default O2 sensor still there

At the shop right now. Both sensors still there but the hose looks like it's gone.

Looks like the code is "low voltage" we're cleaning the sensor to see if that fixes it, but I would be shocked if that actually worked.

Tranny vent hose, huh?
Do I need it? : )

Where would it have attached on the tranny?

As far as the O2 sensors are concerned, I had them swap the rear sensors right to left, to see if the code would switch sides.

I also noticed a wire clip that wasn't connected that was bundled with the passenger 02 sensor. Little plug.

I asked the mechanic about what that was supposed to do and he mumbled something about a speed sensor, and plugged it in above/near/ontop/? the driveshaft. Any clue what that thing is?

You know, I have been trying very hard to use the word "tranny" instead of transmission because I'm using a device that doesn't have spell check, and I knew I probably couldn't spell that word correctly.

Looks like one got through.

This is the reason I became an engineer...

tranny vent hose would connect to a piece of tubing affixed to the tranny near the top on passenger side up forward near the bellhousing.
speed sensor is located on passenger side of tailshaft housing.

If the vent hose has been ripped off, should I worry about it?

any fluid venting would then drip/run onto tranny instead of being directed to NOT run onto tranny. would it affect anything(operational/mechanical),NO.
