Default Will 98 perimeter bolt LS1 head VALVES work in a 243?

What's up guys!

So I have a head with a few bent valves that amazingly didn't hurt the casting!

I bought another head (truck 243) and was going to just buy some C5Z springs and move the valves from the 98 LS1 heads to the 243s.

I also have some 317s that I could remove the valves from if necessary.. but I have NO use for the garbage 98 LS heads and would be glad to strip them of their valves and junk them.

I've looked online and researched the fact that the valves are the same sized head.. I'm just curious if they are the the same valve. (yes, I know Z06 heads had sodium filled exhaust valves)

Thanks in advance guys!

They should be yes. I would test fit and run some lapping grease on them to ensure they are seating and sealing correctly.

Thanks man, I was going to bead blast the valves and then lap them for sure

I want to say that the perimeter valve cover 806 valve stems are slightly longer. Pull a valve out of each head and measure them. It would be good to know.

I thought the truck 243s had slightly smaller intake valves than the Vette version.

AI or TEA might be in your future.

they should be fine, all the valves on ls cathedral heads are the same with 2 exceptions. the z06/ctsv ls6 heads which had hollow and soium valves but were the same size except the stems were .025 longer. the 862 truck heads which actually had smaller valves

Hmm, I have one head from an 02 Z06, and one from a truck... But I have a full set of 317 valves to use if needed... I just also had a set of 98 heads that I'm assuming are merely worth their weight in aluminum scrap.

Good info, I didn't realize that about the truck heads.
