Best Cam and Heads for lq9?
So I'm gonna swap an LQ9 into my 96 k2500 and figured might as well build it up a little while I'm at it. The truck has a 4l80 and 4.10 gears. It will be my daily driver so nothing too crazy. I was thinking something along the lines of a XER273HR But I'm really not set on anything. Also what heads are recommended, or would a high stall converter be smarter? Really any recommendations are appreciated!
Thanks in advance

For a truck motor, I'd go AFR205 or Mamo205 heads. All the torque! The flow rate for the runner size is tremendous on those heads, so you get great torque and still have top end power. They're on my wishlist for my suburban.
Also, assuming you want to use the truck to tow, etc, I don't recommend a high stall converter. Gear it if you need to for more torque.
Regarding the cam, it should be fine but it'll be hard on the valvetrain with those XER lobes. I'd recommend talking to cammotion about the cam.

For your particular application I recommend taking a look at our Z+221 camshaft (221/226, .565/.560, 114LSA). It would offer a very broad power range in your application and offer very nice drivability when tuned. It will work with a stock converter but upgrading to something a little looser than factory such as a 2600-2800 would make for a very fun reliable package.

Here are a few options:
This camshaft is a great "no sacrifice" performance camshaft for an LQ9 in a truck:

I call it "no-sacrifice" because it will make more power everywhere, have better than stock street manners and requires no other modifications to get great results. It is truly a fool proof choice. Truck owners love this camshaft.
The next step up would be the Titan 1:
http://store.cammotion.com/the-titan1
This camshaft can be used in a completely stock engine with a stock torque converter, but will give up a little bit of power below 3500 RPM to a stock LQ9 camshaft. Because of this, I recommend using this camshaft with a 2500-2800 stall converter. This camshaft and converter combo would be best in a truck that is not used for towing or carrying heavy loads. This camshaft will have a slight performance idle, but maintain excellent drivability.
The last choice I will offer is for the enthusiast who has a hotrod street truck. That is our Lil' chopper camshaft:

This camshaft is for the hot rod truck enthusiast who wants a choppy, lopey, hotrod idle and big-time mid-range torque for spirited driving and/or off-road fun. This camshaft will require a 3000 RPM stall and is best used with 1 3/4" headers and free flowing dual exhaust. This camshaft is not for the faint of heart. It has an attitude and makes no apologies.
