Default My chosen H/C combo.... Opinions Plz & HP/Tq guesses?

Hey Crew....

I have finally settled on what I think my optimal H/C "package" is going to be, and I thought I would throw it out there for some opinions & guesstimate gains over my current setup on my '02 Firehawk (M6).

Cam: TSP 224 / 224 .581" .581" 114 LSA, XE-R lobes.

Heads: 243-LS6 Absolute-Speed Stage II Ported, Milled .030" (~10.9:1 CR), 225cc runners, 2.02 / 1.57 valves, 978 dual-springs & titanium retainers. Jay says these will flow 300cfm at .550" and 315cfm at .600".

Other mods include:
Stock LS6 intake, ported TB, ASP Pulley, stock MAF, Donaldson lid & filter, Taylor Thundervolts, TR-55's, 180 t'stat, and smooth bellows on the intake side. StainlessWorks 1-3/4" LT Headers, 2.5" Y-pipe, SLP D/D stock catback exhaust. (Keeping stock D/D for its QUIETNESS)

The car is street-driven only, and wanted an upgrade over my current setup. Want to keep it as quiet as possible, no noticable lope, great street mannerisms at 75mph cruising and at 0-20mph stop-n-go rush hour traffic. Hence, I don't want to go with a cam any bigger than a 224 duration, nor a cam smaller than a 114 LSA. Current setup is '02 LS6-Cam w/ stock 241 heads. 378rwhp / 367 rwtq. Dyno-Graph is below.

Some questions...

Do you think this cam will be a great complement to the AS Stg-II LS6 heads?

Any predictions on what my #'s will be, after the install of the AS LS6 Stg-II Heads + 224 Cam? What gains over my current setup will be seen?

How much improvement in torque from ~2500rpm to 4500rpm over the LS6-cam setup should be seen? (I hope at least 20rwtq?)

Think this setup will make 400rwhp/400rwtq after tuning?

Any worries of piston-to-valve clearance with this setup?

And a side note, any value (power) gained with also moving over to an 85mm MAF, now given the added power from the heads/cam/LT's?

Thanks for the replies.......

i'd pick up AS stg2 5.3 heads over the LS6 heads as its cheaper and it seems as your not going for an all out setup. with the cam and headers and your bolt ons you should have no problem hitting 400rwhp with a good tune. Ryan something or other had an ls6 cam and swapped in a 224 cam and pickup up power all over the power range vs the ls6 cam.

Already have the LS6 heads. Picked them up on a killer deal, so the Heads will definitely be LS6'ers!

Should see at least 400rwhp+ with this setup. Well balanced BTW.
Stay with stock MAF. I'm going back to stock "descreened" for my H/C. Helps alot with tuning issues.

Be prepared for Clutch, and rear dif swap (12 bolt in the plans??)
Otherwise, I wouldn't change a thing.

I am still quite concerned about the resulting piston-to-valve clearance....

Anyone else running a similar setup to this w/out clearance issues? I really want to avoid flycutting the pistons.

Should check PV upon install. But IMO not an issue here with standard gasket . Just contact Trevor at TSP, he'll verify that for you.

I have.... They can't give me an answer because they say it depends on how AS sets up the valves in the heads. <Shrug>
