Default which heads to get

Ok, i used the search icon and didn't really find what I needed.
My q is which heads should I invest in; 5.3, 5.7 or 6.0. I'm new to the LS1 world and of course I will get them P&P'd, but what's the diff?

Depends on what you're trying to do with the car.

We just installed the AFR 205 heads (non-GM casting), and they seem to run from idle to 7200 pretty smooth with a 224/228 cam.

Basic boltons + 224/228 + AFR 205cc = 448rwhp before final tuning thru stock mufflers.

that sounds real good to me, not looking to get too radical with it. It's a daily driver. Looks like you're in the 11's with yours and that's where I'll be happy. I race too have fun not for a speed record, but I like to be fast and respectable. thanks for the input.

If you have the money get the AFR 205"s about 2300.00, if you don"t want to spend that much get TEA 5.3 stage 1.5 or some Patiot"s 5.3"s.Heads are the BEST place to spend your money for power!!!!!

the FFHP heads are showing some definite promise. and for the price it'd be hard to overlook. Plus they're hand finished after the CNC porting which makes a difference.

Brad, thanks,
I will have to look you guys up and where you're at. I'm getting ready to move to Ft Knox and it seems by the area code, you will be closer than Ft Campbell. I have dealt with TEA and had good results with his LT1 heads but the $$ figure from him is outrageous for his stuff now. I can do my own hand porting and have been taught by someone very experienced but ya can't beat a CNC mill. And I don't have a flow bench to test. But I will definately look into your shop. BTW, very good site.

we are in the Louisville,KY area(just outside of Louisville) about 50-60 miles from Ft. Knox. Dad(Demon SS) is an old(key word "old" ) Army vet though we were never stationed at Knox. we look forward to talking to you about your setup. check out www.kyfbodies.org the local f-body board for that area.

thanks for the comment on the site, we are planning to update it soon, just got to find the time.
