Default Age old debate: Hotcam v others...

I know this has been rehashed many times and I've read most all of the threads, but what I'm looking for is some honest objective info based on experience, NOT PERSONAL PREFERENCES!!!

On a 2002 MN6 with long tube headers & ORP and a couple of bolt ons (airlid, FRA, catback) how much more power is there to be had with the TR224 or MTI hammer C1, versus the hotcam? I'm guessing 5-10 right out of the box, maybe 5 more with tuning.

It seems the consensus is with this set up and tuning, the average hotcam will give around 360-365 RWHP, the average for the others 370-375.

Agree/disagree? Thanks - I'm buying soon...

I think it has been proven that our LS1's respond well to most cams out there. The power difference between any of them could be considered relatively small unless racing is your number one priority. I would think a more important issue than power difference with the Hot Cam would be idle quality and emissions. The other, more expensive cams may produce the same power with smoother idle and more ease in getting through emissions testing. But if you're just looking for a cool lope, good valvetrain durability, and best price, Hot cam is a winner.

I'm going with hotcam for
1. reliability
2. price
3. cool lope
4. reliability
5. price.

In that order....

The valve springs that GM supplies with the HOT Cam Kit is the 01 Corvette LS6 Springs, #12565117, we sell them for $7.27ea.

We also use and recommend our SD1423 Valve spring kit. Kit includes spings and titanium retainers for $178.95.

Does anyone know how the computer will tolerate this cam? You hear all the stories of people getting SES lights for misfire codes and what not from some of the other cams that are used.

I have an M6 and was looking into the HOTCAM myself. Is the HOTCAM just as reliable as the LS6 cam? I was leaning towards the LS6 cam at first because my car is still under warranty and the idle is stock, but the HOTCAM, damn....it sounds....
