Default Need Suggestions - around 7k to spend

I have a '98 C5 that is my daily driver with 108k miles. It is bascially stock with a older Halltech T-1 air bridge / filter and corsa cat backs. I want to add some go fast parts and plan on getting the work done by Mike Norris. Mike and I have been discussing a few options for my high milage motor but wanted to also get a few other suggestions before I finalize my plan.

If you had 7kish to spend on some mods what would you do? Keep in mind I will be having this work done by a tuner so I can't spend 7k in just parts. Another consideration may be to save up more money and rebuilt the entire motor but I hate to wait that long. I would love FI but without rebuilding the entire motor that is out of the question.

I would need to factor in new clutch into my price also. I want a street friendly car that does well in traffic but has a nice loop to it.

Check out Texas Speed's website and give them a call, I'm sure they can help you out getting your C5 setup right. www.texas-speed.com

With 7K to spend I would do a 408 iron block with S2 heads and mild cam

If you are weight conscious then a 383 stroker with alum block.

Set of headers with ORY and you are good to go

I think I would save a few more $$ and go for the 383 like Chris said, in the long run, you'll be happier you did IMO...Or get a stock forged bottom end and go FI

Wait for an LS2 aluminum block, buy a 408 rotating assembly but re-use all engine accessories, new heads, 232+ cam, headers, and a spec stage 3.

This would be great but would exceed by budget. Although maybe saving up more money and waiting for the LS2 stuff would be great.

About how much does it cost to forge the bottom end for a FI set up?
