LS6 Cam WOT Impressions

I heat cycled the new LS6 springs 3 times today on my day off and was ready to get on it tonight. Engine revs much quicker due to the ASP pulley and alot more throttle response. I found a nice flat 1/4 stretch of open road and layed on the GO pedal. I feathered the clutch out from 1800 rpm with a little bit of spin and then nailed it, shifted at 6,100 and went into 2nd barking the rear tires harder than I have ever done before revved to a hair over 6,200 and hit third with a slight screech from the rear rubber. 3rd was simply amazing how well the car pulled, I could really tell around 4200 rpms where the exhaust note seemed to get a whole lot deeper and the car pulled harder than ever before. Hit 4th and kept going till arond 5000 where I let off as I was running out of fun room and slowed down.
Overall I am more than satisfied with the LS6 cam and how it performs for the price. I will be getting new dyno numbers and 1/4 times ASAP. It's a helluva sleeper cam as it idles exactly like my stock cam and sounds dead stock at idle. I did notice while cruising today that it has given my CME exhaust note a deeper tone while driving it sounds as if there is more grunt under the hood which again there really is. I would highly recommend this cam for someone who wants a sleeper with a stock idle and no driveability concerns.

Do you have programming to shift that high or are you just shifting right before the limiter kicks in? I think 6200 is a good spot to shift that cam with those springs. You are still on the stock pushrods and retainers right? Thats awesome, I cant wait to see your dyno and some track times. You cant beat it for the $$!

Re: LS6 Cam WOT Impressions
I was shifting by eye and just below the rev limiter. I agree that 6,200-6,400 is a good shift range for the LS6 cam. Yes I am using the stock LS1 pushrods and retainers. I feel they are plenty stout for my application. I cannot wait either for my new numbers, hopefully by early May at the latest. I do plan on having my rev limiter raised to 6,500 rpms to make the full potential of the cam.

I keep getting impressed the more I lay into mine, what a great sleeper cam! My exhaust note is deeper also. WOT hitting third gear is a blast! I'm very happy with the LS6 cam.

That's good to hear b/c i'm thinking of doing the same on my 02SS. There's so much stuff on here, it's kind of hard to decide

Re: LS6 Cam WOT Impressions
I am thinking of getting this cam with the springs on a A4. List of mods in sig, I hope it will work well with headers?

Re: LS6 Cam WOT Impressions
I am seriously considering this cam for my '02 WS6. I was told that you need to get new pushrods because the pushrod length was different, due to the LS6 having longer valves in the heads. I guess that's not entirely true, huh?
The more I hear about this cam, the more I like it. Anyone have any before/after dyno and/or track numbers?
