I can put together a package with a custom cam that will fit your needs for $1648 + 300 core for a set of brand new never been run before set of 5.3 truck heads. This would include all new parts, dual springs, titanium retainers, complete, milled, and ready to bolt on. If you need head gaskets and bolts, I also have an install kit that runs $105. Let me know if you need any more info., feel free to call or e-mail me.

Hey Brent, it must be real slow by you guys at TEA, jumping into a thread that clearly stated questions about another sponsor. I deal with about 80% of the sponsors on here. and the way that TEA keeps jumping into peoples threads should be stopped. Its poor sales methods. I would now never recomend TEA to anyone. WOW i guess TEA dont need pimps on here they do it themselves.

Spike, i have driven a 6spd car with that cam and a set of ABSOLUTE SPEED stage 1x heads. It has stock tuning with great idle quality and makes great power through out the rpmn range. I would not recomend 5.3 heads due to the use of higher compresion to get increased hp. when it could be done by hand porting. with lower compresion.

Thanks for the replies guys, I do appreciate it. Do you guys think the Stage 1x heads (with double springs) would serve me just as well as the Stage 2 heads with that particular cam?

I thought about going with the 1x heads, and their price is certainly tempting.

I got my tax refund check on Thursday, I am hoping to get this ball rolling on Monday by placing an order - I just have to decide this weekend what I'm going to buy!!

Oh, the agony of indecision, and the ecxtacy of anticipation!

Hey Spike

Im sure the 1x heads would be great for that cam. I might go with the stage 2 heads incase you decide to upgrade to a more agressive cam later and the price is pretty close. Either way you cant go wrong with the absolute speed heads. I have the stage 2 ls1 heads and they are great.

You'll want to upgrade to them later, so might as well get them now.

I disagree with what was said above however. 5.3's are good heads and give you more compression without milling - more compression equals more power. ALL of Jay's heads are hand ported whether they are 5.3's 5.7's 6.0's or LS6.

Ask Jay about what your goals are for power output and budget and I'm sure he'll come up with something good for you. He is excellent with the customer service.

BTW, I run a set of his stage II LS6 heads and my car runs like a monster.

Go with the Absolute Speed Heads. Aaron (SWTWS6) put a set of them on his car and finally finished it up today. It pulls really well and sounds great. It's got great driving manners too. You'll love them. The only bad thing I can say about Absolute Speed is they took I think 8 weeks to get Aaron his heads, besides that they seems to be A+ in my book.

Default Absolute Speed heads + 215/220 old man cam = :-) ?

What do you guys think of running Absolute Speed Stage2 LS1 heads (dual springs) with one of the new Thunder Racing "old man" 215/220 .600/.523 115 LSA cams?

I am looking for a head/cam combo that will give me near stock idle quality but yet increase power all the way thru the rpm range on my daily driver. I am still running a stock bottom end, so I don't want a cam that will require revving over 6300rpm to make power - so, I'm looking for higher horsepower throughout the rev range, not just at redline... I'd like to see 400 on the dyno though.

check my sig for other mods on the car, it's a basic bolt on car that I use for commuting as well as Solo2 competitions and a bit of roadracing. With the ASP pulley, aluminum flywheel and carbon fiber driveshaft, I am trying to make this a quick revving road-racing engine at all rpms below 6400, and I'm thinking those heads and that cam might be perfect for what I want.

opinions?

Jay just put a set of his Stage 2 heads on my WS6 over the weekend. I just got back to PA and finally took it for a spin. The power is incredible. I already had the TR224 cam and the difference with these heads are amazing. I have an A4 and when I I punch it it drive it pulls so much harder. I tried it in 2nd and smoked the tires from a roll :

I wanted to thank Jay for the head install and it was a pleasure meeting and chatting with JFM

The ride home was much better. We all have to hook up and go racing. It should be a lot of fun...

IMO, I don't think the Old Man cam would be the ideal cam for a roadrace application. I'm not saying it's not a great cam or anything, just saying there's a lot better cams out there for a constant high rev environment.

If I were you, I'd look for something with a little less drastic ramps. That thing would be hell on a valvetrain, if used on a roadcourse..
