Question PART QUERY: Anyone using a VR Velocity Stack?

http://www.vararam.com/products03.html

Anything that's cheap and easy seems like it's worth investigating.

Anyone have one of these things? Any gains? Is it just like that Tornado BS?

Any information, greatly appreciated.

Pretty much.
Possible small fuel increase, no real power gains. Try seaching for "velocity stack" you'll get a ton of stuff to read.

yea, try searching next time before you post

velocity stack/tornado are both waste of time/money.

He better hope so. Otherwise the paperclip that holds it in will eventually bend, and it will be sticking sideways in front of the TB. I sent that crap back to VR. You are better off with a ported stock TB.

Hahaha, the entertainment value of these threads alone is worth the cost of the damn thing! Usually somebody who never installed one will post about it being a restriction, another will post something about the Tornado, and there will be a recommendation or 2 to just get a ported TB. The clip bending and sticking sideways is an original.

If you did a search on it, you should find a post that I made about track results. Basically, it didn't help nor hurt my ET or trap speed with my minimal mods. It did make part-throttle feel more responsive and needing less throttle for same power output. MPG slightly improved too.

The funnel doesn't extend completely to the throttle blade area, thus the smallest diameter section that air flows thru is still at the stock throttle body. The funnel somewhat shrouds the cavity that many porters fill in with epoxy. The funnel also slightly changes the angle of the air flow path.

The clip to hold the funnel in place is clamped down on the outside of the throttle body by the bellows clamp. Once clamped down, I cant imagine how it would bend. Maybe the funnel could turn sideways if the clip is not used and a smooth bellow is used. With the stock bellow, the funnel butts up against one of the bellow's corrugation.

So to sum it up, this is not a track mod, it is a street mod. Guys running a high stall converter, don't get it. You won't be able to feel the slight improvement in throttle response. If you are after higher trap speeds, get a ported throttle body. And lastly, do the TB-bypass mod if you ever decide to get this.
