What cam makes more power G5X3 or MS3?
I am wondering what cams makes more power? I have both in my hand right now and I don't know which one to run. I have an 02 Z06 and have seen dozens of Z06's make 435RWHP with the stock heads. Then on the f-bods the G5X3 barely makes 400 while the MS3 makes anywhere from 418-430 and this is with LS1 heads-not LS6 heads? alos what cam is more streetable-I have seen some MS3 dyno graphs and it looks like it gives up alot under 3500rpm. Oh and my G5X3 is a on a 112.

I believe the MS3 will clear the valves and piston but the G5X3/112 will need flycutting.
I've read about a couple of setups clearancing the X3/112 on stock LS1 hads but it is too tight for my liking <.0700
Oh BTW you can make up for lower TQ loss in the MS3 with 4:10's

I know I have to flycut but I don't have the AS 5.3 heads anymore-I will be using a stock LS6 head ported by a friend. I'm not too worried about the loss of torque as the Z has a 2.95 first gear ratio BUT I don't want to sacrifice too much-I have to keep the launches down to avoid breaking the independent rear again.

Vortech- What setup do you have now? The MS3 will clear stock heads. If you're having them ported, what size valves and are they going to be milled?
BTW, I daily drive my MS3.

Right now I'm going to be using a LS6 head but with stock valves-they may be Manley but they will be stock sizes. I may mill the heads to get 11.0 and i have no problem flycutting my pistons-i would have had to flycut for the G5X3 on a 112 anyway. I just want the most power and torque and if it was a perfect world I would also like the most average horsepower too! I put the G5X3 on a degree wheel and the MS3 is bigger for sure-I know that. Just was wondering how it would perform on a LS6 instead of a LS1. The G5X3 works very well with cam only Z06's. AND the MS3 works really well on cam only LS1's-but it's all about the package.

I think the G5X3 works with stock heads. I have 2 friends with that cam. One of the guys Firehawk dynoed 427rwhp with stock heads, boltons, and his own tune. they did no modifications that I know of, as they installed the cams themselves.
