Getting the head off the ls1 is easy. See my site for pics and instructions.

The LS1 is not like a typical sbc, but it is very easy to work on!! The driver side head will come out no problem with the engine still in the car. Should not take more than 2 or 3 hours to get it out of there, maybe a little longer on your first try though. The passenger side is a little harder, but it also comes out while the engine is in the car. Just make sure when you put the head back on that you use all new head bolts, also keep track of the bolts because they are different lengths. Any more questions just PM me. I have taken my driver's side head off twice in the last week. I think I have the same problem, but I have not taken it to an engine shop to check it out yet. Mine is on the number 3 cylinder. Did your car misfire when this happened, just curious because mine is like crazy...

For new valves GM or SDPC, used go to ValveGod,ask Shaun for all LS1 used needs.

I think the purpose of this board is to learn from others experiences and i think its only fairto give as well as get info. My help to you is to think real hard before buying aftermarket valves over stock valves. I havent seen a aftermarket valve yet that flows as good as stock 2000+ valves. If extreme endurance is not mandatory than you will make more power with STOCK VALVES. SDPC is sponsor on this site, look to your left up a little and you will see link.

If you are guys are looking for stock replacement valves and springs there are some on ebay being sold by Lingenfelter. I would buy them, but I have no use for all of them. Since we all need 1 or 2, maybe we could work out some sort of deal... PM me or email me....

Assassin, there are intake to head gaskets, they are thin rubber(I believe)/silicone gaskets that surround each port. They are reusable many times too. The torque sequence is the standard torque sequence for these heads. It is the same one listed in the Helm's manual and the GM tech base. JMX does have his **** together then it comes to this stuff....

chino_man279, thanks

Assassin, as chino man said, there are intake manifold gaskets built into the intake manifold. The torque sequence for the intake manifold is located in more than one place on my website, and the torque sequence and torque specs for the heads are on 3 writeups on my site. Just look at any of the howto's dealing with heads and you'll find the info you need. There's pictures of the patterns.

Good luck!
