Question MTI X1 cam vs TR224 cam??

Hey guys, I'm new here and this is my first post. You guys seem to know alot and have my style of tuning for the most part...i.e. big cam, heads, headers, low gears etc. Anyhow, alot of you guys are running the thunder racing 224 cam and seem to like it. I am thinking about picking one up this summer. I am also thinking about the MTI X1 cam ( 230I 227E .591 / .571 / 112 LSA) With a set of their 2E heads. Do any of you guys have any experience with this cam? How does it compare to the TR224? Will my car suffer any on the low end? Anyone know what kind of power numbers are possible with this cam? It will be accompanied with full bolt-ons (i.e. headers, 4.10/12 Bolt, LS-6 intake etc.) Any input would be great.

are you comparing 2E/X1 vs 2E/tr224 or vs tr224 cam only. at any rate, the X1 will make a bit more top end peak power, nothing substantial. the 2E/X1 is an older but potent combo.

Yeah, sorry, I wasn't too specific about that. with the TR224 cam I was just going to leave my stock cylinder heads on for now. The question was really just a comparison between the cams. As in....if I had stock cylinder heads with both the X1 and TR224.....how would it behave differently? Thanks for all the input!!

X1 period. It has more duration and more lift on both sides if I remember right. HOWEVER, do not mill your heads with this cam. P2V is and issue with this cam and milled heads. Ask me how I know

I would expect a very noticeable difference between a TR224 and X1 cam both in power and streetability. I just made the change from a TR224 114 to a TSP235/240 112, and I can tell you they compare like night and day.

I installed the X1 last week. I gained 43HP and 41 Torque. The lope is great and the car shakes just enough to not be annoying. If you going to go inside the engine, make it worth it and get something that is a decent size.
