Default I finally bought a cam... FMS F14

Ok, so I just got off the phone with FMS. I finally took the plunge to do a cam swap.

I was planning on getting the F14 112. After talking to Kip, and based on the recomendation of both him and Alan, I went with the F14 114. He said for a full weight A4 car the 114 would be a better choice. He also said I would still be able to keep the shift points around 6800... the same spot I was thinking of shifting when I was thinking of doing the 112.

Does it sound like I made the right choice? I figured they're the pros, so I followed their lead.

Also, a big thanks to the folks at Futral... they were great to deal with over the phone and with pm's. Very happy with my experience with them so far.

Are people spining their car that high regularly now? Or is this just a race application? I thought I was pushing mine by spinning it too 6500. If we can..well then it looks like its time for a bigger cam.

Nope, not a race-only application.... this is my street car. It makes it to the track every once in a while. I'm not sure where I'll have the shift points finally set at. I still have to talk to them to finalize tuning details.

On a side note, where in So Cal are you? I noticed you had custom duals and was wondering where you had them done. You can PM me about it of you'd like.

Son... you just picked an awesome cam.

Times in sig.

Not sure how the 114 LSa is but I shift mine at 6600... 6950 rev limiter with ARP rod bolts on the bottom end.

Thanks SS346ls1. While I was searching, I kept seeing how impressed you were with this cam. I guess we'll see how the 114 works out in a couple of weeks.

i got the f14 on a 114lsa, mainly becuase i have nitrous.. they said there wouldn't be a noticable difference in the dyno's b/t a 112 and 114.. nothing i could feel and hardly be able to see it if any.. the tq down low should still be awesome im hoping!!!

i plan to set the idle at like 850-875ish so i can still hear a lil lope out of it, and i plan to shift lower since im spraying.. will prolly wind up manually shifting this car with the auto and setting the limiter at 6800, having teh srpay cut out at 6000 and i will try to shift it about 61-6200, and then when im on motor let her spin about 6500-6600.. the cam should peak about 6200 from the graphs ive seen despite futrals claims

I have a 98 also with a F10. I'm real happy with mine after I got my exhaust the way I wanted it. Sound is great and it pulls very hard. I'll have some F10 Dyno numbers up next week. If I didn't have such high mileage I would have went with a F13.
