Default C5R Top End For Sale, 4.125" Lunati Crank, 6.200" Billet Rods Also.

Hey All,

I know this is not the right forum, but figured it would get a lot of attention here. We have a customer here with a 2001 Corvette with a twin turbo 427 iron engine he wants to change to an AFR top end and destroke to a 408ci. We are taking out the engine now and should have some more info, but he wants to sell the C5R top end off the car.

It has the complete C5R heads with 1.55" dual spings and T&D rocker setup. Until I get the engne out and apart i will not have any other info. I do not know who built the heads either, but hopefully there are some markings on them. We also have a set of Katech "CORVETTE" C5R valve covers with coil bracket bungs, Katech 90mm TB for a cable actuation (car has a MOTEC PCM in it). The inatke is a MORE Performance sheet metal piece. The car runs decent and has put down 700RWHP and 700RWT with 11-12 pounds of boost.

He is is changing the engine combo to make it more streetable as the engine smokes and no one knows, at this point, who built it or what is inside. We are guessing that it has a 4.125" stroke Lunati crank and billet Lunati 6.200" rods, but again we will know more later this week. The rotating assembly will be for sale also if it is truly what we were told.

My understanding is that the top end is worth $12-13K new and the rotating assembly $3800 or so. Make me a reasonable offer and I will let the customer know. Thanks for reading and talk to you all soon.

Well..................I told the customer he may have been had in this car, and sure enough has. I have never seen anything like it, but when trying to lower the compression for boost with a small (35cc??) chamber C5R head, odd things will happen. The engine is actually a 406ci with a 3.98" stroke (SCAT billet??), 4.03" pistons and 6.200" billet Lunati rods. Pistons look to have a 30cc "moat" dish in them and they are about .080-.085" down the bore with a .925" compression height. They also used a .100" thick copper gasket. There are no markings on the crank.

As far as the heads, I am less then impressed with the port work, but they are workable for sure. If anyhting else pops up I will let y'all know. Thanks.

Hey All,

We have been going through a few scenarios with the customer and are on track for some big changes.

What I think he is now looking for price wise is as follows and go from there.

MORE sheet metal intake...........................$2000
Katech F-body 90mm TB.............................$500
Complete C5R heads.................................$4500
Heads include jesels offset rockers, valve covers and pushrods.
Lunati billet 6.200" connecting rods...............$600

I have pics of everything and can be e-mailed as needed. Send me the offers and I will pass them on. Thanks.

Yeah, definitely not a forced induction head nor was it meant to be nor was it meant to be a pump gas naturally aspirated head. Interesting what they did to lower the compression for the twin turbo setup.

Useable? Sure. For what? Not too sure. They basically have an approx 35cc "moat" shaped dish with valve reliefs and sit .085" down the bore at TDC with 6.200" connecting rods and 3.985 stroke. Not to mention the tight and poor ring package. I did not list these for a reason, but now the info on them is here and if someone needs them, make an offer. Not expecting one though Later.
