According to the many articles I've read, 4.120" is absolute maximim with a recentered bore.

3.995" is about the point when the inner sleeve is sacrificed.

I would shy away from 4.005" on a stock block.

cheap way would be to get a iron 6 liter block. That is the best way to get a 4 inch bore.
Otherwise, you need to re sleeve the alum block.
Or, you can get a LS2 block.

You can't just bore your LS1 block out to a 4 inch bore. You don't have enough liner.

Bore your aluminum to 3.905" and use the 4.000" Stroke crank and the 6.125" rods. That will get you a 382ci Stroker.

You won't gain that much power going to a 4.000" Bore. Diamond has a piston on teh shelf that will fit your application.

If you wanted to do a 4.000" Bore set-up you can use an LS2 block.

If you want to reuse the stock block I"d hone it and leave it alone. That picture is a perfect example of what will happen if you bore it too much. Or just spend the money and get a sleeved block, or have yours sleeved! If it were me I'd just stick with the stock bore!

Just call and tell them what you have and what you want. Just because you do not find it on their site does not mean it does not exist.

well, a Ls1 should be fine. The 6.0, you can go LS2 block aluminum, or iron block. As for heads, while patriot's stuff is cheaper, you might wanna check out the thread at the top of this section titled, "Patriot recall". They are having some problems right now. They do have 6.0 heads, but i would probably go with some milled heads and a valve relief piston if i were you.

well patriot says the problem is working out..im choosing this route because the ls1 i was going to buy today was sold under my feet...and besides no sense in tearing down a perfect ls1..so i figure start with block like all my other engine builds and full customize it to my likes..im sure these are all questions i can ask the guys at tsp with a phone call but id like to not drive them crazy so im aksing you guys..

why dont you call TSP and ask them what they think about the Patriot heads. If you're in no hurry to buy heads today, save your money, and get a better quality head

If you are buying a block then you might as well buy a truck 6.0L or the new LS2 6.0L block and take advantage of the bigger bore. Buy the heads you want before buying the pistons so you can set your compression with the piston dish.
