Default I need opinions... (CC224/228 vrs. TR224)

I was planning on doing a 6.0 swap in the near future but looks like that will have to wait for now. I currently have a 212/218 cam and in my 5.3 and was considering going with a larger cam. I have a 224/228 581/588 114 sitting in my garage but I have now I am considering just going with TR224. What would the difference be between these two cams and is it enough to justify selling the 224/228 and looking for a TR224? My main concern is the longer exhuast duration. I am afraid to loose too much low end and the high lift putting a strain on my 918's.
I want to maintain drivability of my truck since my wife will be driving it once in a while now that we sold the beater.
I plan to keep my 5.3 n/a btw.

I have been running the 224/228 for about three years now. I have been very pleased with it. I had the same concerns that you do about the exhaust duration, but my car is a 2000 A4 and makes 400TQ N/A and ran 7.01 last weekend. It is also a daily driver, so I would use the 224/228 that you have. I think you will be pleased with it assuming the rest of your combination is working good.

Do not change cams. Keep your 212/218.

Why? With proper tuning, the 224/228 cam should be great.

I had the comp 222/224 cam in my old SS and I loved it. It was a great daily driver cam. In stop and go traffic it had a little surge to it but nothing too bad. Just a little more than stock. I had TEA stage 1.5 heads and hooker headers with it. It made about 418 with that combo. With 3.73 gears it was awesome. Made allot of torque.

Thanks HPT Bandit for the reply. Seems to me it would be a good cam for a daily driver and stock heads. Noticeable lope to the idle?

I am always impressed with the 224/228 cam.
With some good tuning the only time you will even notice a larger cam is installed is when you punch the gas.

I don't think the TR224 would work well in a smaller engined big ol truck. You'll want something to produce lotsa torque.

The TR224 is a proven cam in our trucks with a 3000+ stall. Any other opinions on these cams?
