Default X1 Cam...114 lsa

Can I get away with running the X1 Cam before I get my stall put in next month? I have a 99 A4 Vette and will be getting my stall and gears next month. I wanted to do my cam and springs early will I have idle issues on a 114 lsa? The Cam Specs: 230/227 591/571 114LSA. What kind of numbers are you guys getting with bolt ons....

Had the X1 on a 112, absolutely loved it....ripped out of the hole. Get it tuned and you will not have any idling issues. If you are waiting until you get the converter to tune it try a timing tuner. You may also want to think about some SVO 30#
I put down 405/416 with full bolt-ons on a load bearing dyno.

it will need some minor idle adjustment tuning to get it to idle.... you can do it yourself by adjusting the TB idle screw.......turn off car....unplug the Throttle Postion sensor.... turn key to on... turn key off.... plug back in...turn key on (that basically makes it reset your current position as 0..so it wont unlearn where you put it)

your iac's should be at about 20-30 from my understanding if you check it on a scanner of some kind

Racie, you're going to need to get the PCM tunned to raise your idle speed and a number of other things with a cam that size. I recomend 850 to 950 rpm. However, you can get by for a while by doing what soundengineer sugested above. But let me add to what he said: You won't be able to crack the throttle wide enough to make it idle unless you take the screw out the bottom and reinstall it from the top, so you are using it's head to hold the throttle open. You will need a tiny torx driver to turn it. Use the procedure above, but instead of adjusting it for IAC's of 20 to 30, adjust it for zero IAC's with the engine fully warmed up. What that will do is nearly eliminate the tendancy for the idle rpm to drop below what it is set at as you hit the brakes and come to a stop. Very common problem with big cams.

It's a Vette. I don't think the DBW T/Bs have the screw or even a hole in the blade.
