LS6 cam kit. Worth it or not??
Ls6 cam kit is on sale. This is what is included. I am looking for my car to pass emissions and do not really want a big cam just something mild that will show gains. How much will I gain from this set up with my new kooks headers????????????

with a decent tune, full bolt ons people have seen as much as 375ish rwhp and sometimes 380(unlikely)
And you wont really see the difference until around 4500 rpms where it really starts to come alive over the stocker.

Cam itself is going to run you around 400 Dollars. If you're paying someone to install it.. Might as well do it right and get a beter cam then the LS6

If you are going to pay for install- I don't think its worth it to save a few hundred on the cam and a few more on the springs and rods- When its all said and done, you will probably want bigger, better anyway and will have to pay for install twice.
Now if you are going to DIY and it only costs you time, sure it would be worth $200 plus a little downtime for the gains you will probably get.
PS- Emissions here in Lake Co. are OBD port only, so in theory, you can do what you want.

If you are paying somebody to do it, which will def be more than the cost of the cam kit it may or may not be worth the gains to you. The LS6 cam is good if you want a boost in power but want to retain totally stock manners and never have to worry about changing your springs again. If you want POWER get something bigger/better. Personally I'd never recommend anything smaller than 224/224 unless you are really concerned with how it drives and spring life.

The LS6 cam is a good cam, but it still needs a tune IMO (all I have is the limiter moved).. if you are doing the install yourself its a great bargain, otherwise you would probably be happier saving some money and doing a bigger cam. I like mine, but its time for more.
I have no dyno numbers from it, but.. I have outrun numerous "bigger" cammed cars at my local track (crappy DA's) including a MS3 cammed car with just about identical mods to mine, except the cam of course.. all he did was out trap me a little. It depends on what you want to do with your car.. mine sounds and drives stock. I went with Comp 918 springs and hardened pushrods so I could go bigger later since i'm most likely going with an FMS cam in a couple of months..

Hi Folks
I have the LS6 cam and like the Cam - like everybody said, there are better and bigger cams (true statement) out there but it is what you want that counts. This cam pulls real hard after 3500, so me it Ok because when I shift, the RPM never go below 3500 anyway. Price maybe your threshold and for $200 you can't go wrong, that is providing you are installing it.
