Default Good reason to swap LS6 in for LS1?

Forged I can understand. But would a stock for stock longblock swap be worth the effort and $$?

Ok, what about forged. Would you guys swap a good ls1 shortblock for a forged ls6 shortblock for say $2500?

If you are going to swap blocks go with something else. The differences between the LS1 and LS6 blocks don't warrant it. Get a nice 6.0L 408 cube iron block.

(or something like that)

I would as well.
For a nice built 347 for 2500 bucks you really cant go wrong.
You really wont see much of a power difference but you will if you run Nitrous or boost the setup.
The forged motor will handle more abuse, and for 2500 bucks be a good investment (Did I just say good investment when talking about car mods. )

i can't see why you would bother. with all of budget forged/stroker motors that are out right now i'd just spend the extra money and get some extra cubes. i'm sure that would be a lot more fun. GM High Tech just had an article on all of the different budget short blocks that are out there for LSx's right now.

You guys advising on getting a big cube for low price is boloni.
Big cubes will be $2000>3000 more on a long bock. Because you'll need all the peripherals to be changed. Bigger headers, bigger TB/Intake, bigger heads etc...

A forged 347 longblock can be had for less than $6000 and you use all of your existing peripherals.

Do big cubes make more power? Hell yeah but not for free.

Had you of not posted that I would have had a almost identical post.
The shortblock price difference isn't that bad thanks to Eagle cranks. You are going to add 80-90 lbs if you go iron. That is no big deal to most as they also gain 50-100HP over their current 346 setup.
As said before the heads are more expensive and you will spend 2300 instead of 1500 from the same vendor for heads. 1200 or so for the fast 90/90 setup.
If you have headers you might have to swap them out.
Now with all that power and torque how do you plan pn geting the car to hook? Even if you do now you need a 12 bolt, better trans if your a A4 or a high doller clutch/flywheel adjust master cylinder setup.
In the longblock alone there is about a 3000 dollar difference to do it the right way, or a 4500 dollar difference to do it the right way with better parts. (Launti instead of Eagle crank, better rods and pistons etc.)
