Question confused over oil

Hi, i am fitting an ls1 into a jet boat here in new zealand. There seems to be so many preferences over oil. I have spoken to engine builders here and they all prefer mineral based oils, but all you guys in the states insist on synthetic. Please who can help! Max revs will be 5000rpm but the ambient will be a bit hotter than in a car as there is no air flow.

ls1 to only 5k max???? what are u doing to pick up the lowend and cutout the topend.. a stock ls1 makes its best power from 5-6k.. seems like ur giving something up.... maybe better off with a tq'y lt1 motor... justwondering not bashing, sounds really cool

LT1's arent torquey, they just have a serious lack in top end that makes the bottom shine.

I run mobile 1 (10w30). It holds up well in the 105 degree texas heat.

A hardrun Marine application needs at minimum a 40w oil. Marine use is mucho servere than your normal sunday banging through the gears to church and back. Marine application is similar to a LS1 driving up a steep 9% grade all the time.

In my 360 SBC I run Rotella T Synthetic 5W-40 w modest drain intervals.

Mobil 1 15W-50 is also a good choice. I prefer Synthetic as Marine oil temps are alot higher than normal cars, they have no ventilation and are run hard.

Why the 5K rpm max limit?
Is the LS1 going to be raw water cooled? If so do not use the engine in salt water or say goodbye to your aluminum block.

Talking

I use German Castrol 0w30 but I was told it is closer to 40w. I also use a K&N Long Filter #2006 not the short one.
