Default How much German Castrol do you have?

So after much hunting, decrypting of bottles, and puzzled AutoZone employees... I come back from my oil hunt victorious! A few stores only had 1-4 bottles of the green stuff, and many had none at all. Although at the final store I was going to go to, I found 18 quarts! I was ecstatic! Behold my collection. How much do you have? I remember Patman saying he has 80 or so liters (84.5 quarts) of it.

After this stuff is gone I'll probably get some of Belgium 5W-40, go back to Amsoil or perhap even the M1 EP... we'll see...

Yes, almost anything made in 2005 is amber like most other oils. I haven't seen anyone do an analysis on the newer amber oil. So that's just speculation. Just from moving the bottles around it seems noticeably thinner

Did I miss something? Are they going to stop making this oil or are you just stocking up to not have to go hunt it down later?

I went all over the city several weeks ago, thought I scored a case of it, the box specifically says made in Germany, however every bottle in the box says made in US. So that sux. Other than that, I found only 3 actual German made quarts after hours and who knows how many miles of driving. SO I don't even have enough for one oil change. I'm sticking to Mobil 1, save a TON of time and gas driving around for nothing.

They still make it, but they changed the formula. I haven't seen anyone analyze the newer fomula yet. German Castrol or GC is green in color, you can tell through the clear measuring side. Make sure the bottle says "Made in Germany" on the back, and the manufacture date is between 02-04. It's on the bottom and will look like M02XXXXX or M03XXXXX. If you can't find it, it's no big deal. I'm just nutz. If I couldn't get any, I'd go with: Castrol Syntec 5W-40, Amsoil, Mobil 1 0W-40. Possibly even the new EP Mobil 1.

I just bought 8 quarts at my local AutoZone. They had plenty. The stuff I bought is green, and says imported from Germany.

Amen, brother. This preoccupation with differences between oils measured in microns is absurd.

I have about 30qts of the green stuff and 10qts of the new gold formula. I changed the oil in my daily driver LT1 yesterday with the new gold and it is more clear than gold in color. My buddy that has a 99 SS changed his oil yesterday at the same time but using the green formula and was very happy that his valve train noise was gone. He did have Mobil 1 in there prior that is all he used before I turned him on to this stuff. There was a noticable difference before and after the oil change.

I will look every time I go to Autozone just to see if they have any or not but when its all gone I will probably go to Royalpurple #41.
