Head recomendation..
Need some advice on heads for my setup. Mods are below, biggest being TR224/224 112 cam and NOS dry shot (no jets). I am on a budget so AFR's are a little to pricey. Should i do stage 1? stage-2? And how much power will i see? Would like to just drop a set of nice mild heads on without doing much work. Car is basically everyday driver with 30,000 miles. thanks

The AFR's would be the best bet in my opinion, but since you are on a budget you might want to try a set of the new Stage I TEA heads that are about to come out. They are really cheap at $1000 core exchange and they say will flow 300cfm with stock valves.. Brent from TEA just posted the new info on these heads today.. If you can spend $1500 then you might want to consider the Stage 1.5 TEA 5.3 truck heads. You should see 400-420rwhp easily with a Stage 1.5 or 2.5 head and the bolt-ons that you have already..

I would give Patriot Performance a call. I had the opportunity to see what goes on in Patriot on monday & I must say Im highly impressed. For the money you cant beat their heads. Give em a call & let them know what kind of setup you plan on running. They'll set you up. Plus right now if you look up a few posts they just announced a special on stage II 5.3L heads fully assembled. $1095

I agree.. after I posted I saw the Patriot deal for $1095.. Can't really beat that price at all considering it comes with better hardware than the TEA stage 1's that are basically the same price with the dual spring upgrade.. And as you know, Patriot has some of the best customer service around..

I just had a customer bring me a new set of Patriot stage 2 5.3 heads to flow test. I am going to do a comparrison with our stage 1 when we are finished.
IMO with our stage 1 head he should be in the 400-420 range with stuff he has already.

Its a never ending battle..... My advise to you is to buy you a set of heads you feel comfortable going with not by what all these internet flow #'s say. But like I said earlier. Give Gunnar a call & let him know what your looking for. He will fix you up.

This particular thread is not the place for your attempts to obtain market share by appearing to be a "honest broker".
We will be more than happy to be part of a truly independent flow test. In fact, we would love to see all head companies submit a "non-ringer" head to be evaluated by an independent source.

This is the perfect thread to compare flow numbers in,that is what the potential customer is asking for. I will post flow numbers from our Stage 1.5, 5.3 head, our stage 1, 5.7 head, Your stage 2, 5.3 head and just for giggles I will include numbers from an AFR 205 head.
All will be flowed on the same bench, clay radiused and exhaust with the same sized pipe.

Our stage II 5.3 heads are a great choice for guys on a budget. Our heads are a great buy for $1095.00 fully assembled with high quality parts. These will come with a flow sheet and we welcome you or any customer to have them tested by an independent company.

have testing done at an independent facility with impartiality.
having TEA do the is akin to GM having ford test the C6z06 against the ford GT. wonder what the outcome would be...
at any rate Jarod summed things up nicely a while back
