Default Torquing ARP head bolts...

Do you think there is really any difference between the ARP assembly lube and the Permatex assembly lube?

The local speed shop and SDPC (where I just placed an order for some parts today) is out of the ARP lube.

Thoughts?

I dont really want to use the 30 weight oil as mentioned in the ARP directions.

Yes, any good moly assembly lube will provide more accurate torque values than regular oil.

I used motor oil when I put mine in with out any problems. I poured a quart into a bucket and diped the entire bolt in.

I'm wondering if there is really a difference between the assembly lubes....ARP, Permatex, Royal Purple, etc...

How much do I put on the threads??

Just cover the threads. Assembly lube will give you a different torque than oil.
If you can't find assy lube, you can use oil, but you need to torque more.
Use the right torque spec for the lube/oil that you are using.

Some lubes are different. For instance the new Compstar rods have a really thick lube and it is different then ARP lube. Just use oil under the washer, on top of the washer, and on the threads. Then torque to 80-85lbs
