Default Valve springs, somewhat scared...

I have patriot gold duals in my car. I am WAY too lazy to check ever 15k miles. Could I just keep driving car until something starts feeling weird? What do you guys do? I don't race my car all the time. I only go to track maybe once a year, and every once in a while when getting on highway I rev the crap outta the car, get up to about 80 or so mph and let off, which doesn't take long in a h/c Ls1. So any comforting info out there?

Funny thing about springs are that you will not "feel" them starting to go bad (at least not a low rpm). They either work or they break. You're in luck that you own PRC duals. Depending on the cam you're running (and how you treat it), you may be able to get lots more miles than 15K.

The Patriot spring should be good for at least 50K.

WTF... 50k? Only if it was a stock cam! I sure as hell would love to know more about these springs. lol

As big of a cam as you are running, you will definately need to change the springs within 15k miles. The easier you are on the car, the longer they will last. But, 15k is usually about the average. I wouldn't take the chance of breaking one if I were you, but that's just me.

Bet you'd like the cam a lot more with a razor sharp tune. It's possible to get your street manners really nice with a cam of that size. Just takes time. Not a mail order tune and not a WOT tune done on a chassis dyno. I'm talking about hours of data logging and tweaking of the VE tables and various airflow tables.

yes, my tune is just about right on. I'm disappointed in torque. I'm going to hit dyno fairly soon. But with Auto going through High stall Yank PY3600E verter put down 390rwhp and 340rwtq on Mustang dyno. On Dynojet BEFORE heads/cam I put down 340rwhp and 350rwtq. Dunno how I didn't gain ANY tq with this cam a/f 12.6 across the board. Also they stopped dyno at 6300rpm, and my redline is 6800, so had more hp in her, just not enough tq. I am HIGHLY disappointed in tq readings.

Oh yeah forgot to mention I'm now an M6, swapped A4 to M6. Will have dyno results soon hopefully.
