Gettin Hot on the Highway
I have a 2001 WS6 with the 6 speed on it. When im going down the highway its no slow speed, doing anywhere from 80-90.....well the temp gauge goes up, a decent bit (iv seen it as high as 3/4 up) when i get on the high way. But when im in the city it stays right at 210 and not much moveing, is there anything i need to look at or is that normal. I was thinking about puttin a 180 therm. on it. Any thoughts?

im assuming you have a ws6. Now, you sould already have a 180* thermostat. You should first see if you have something jammed up in front of the radiator. Very common!!!
Next, get a 160* thermostat. I just dropped one in and i got it from hypertech...the people who make that handheld tuner. Anyways, that helped out tons.....you can flush like snketr said, you can just run water though the system with the motor running, rain it through either the lower radiator hose or the petcock/valvecock. its a small drauin plug on the bottom, passenger side. just remove it, i used a 21mm socket and run the water until you see that it you get clean water through there.
Or you can get a flushing agent from your local auto parts store and follow the instruction.
Try all of this stuff......it nothing works...than you might have some other problems like a bad water-pump or a bad fan.
good luck!!!!

Hopefully this comes out. The black plastic thing with the shiney bolts. If that is damaged or removed these cars will run 20-30 degrees hotter on the highway. Just trying the easy stuff first. Later John

I just put in a 160 thermo, which I verified with a temp gun, and my gauge, like a lot of people's here, still reads the same 210, fyi. I know it's hard on these cars but don't forget to clean the bugs and crap out the rad and air conditioner thingy.
