Default air pump hose unplugged

since i installed my MTI lid about an month ago i havent put a small filter on the air pump hose..it is just sitting there with nothing on it..is this ok?

I put one on mine. Better safe than sorry. I got one from Pep Boys for about $10.

i mean what could possibly happen? a piece of something gets in and goes into the exhaust..i mean how can that damage anything?

can anyone answer my last question. not sure how the air system works but i hear it on at startup and randomly while driving. where does that air go to? harmful to leave the hose open w no filter?

It pumps it directly into the exhaust manifolds (many posts depicting the "AIR tubes"). It helps the cats heat up faster by adding oxygen back into the exhaust stream.

so it doesnt really matter if i put a filter on it or leave it open right? i thought possibly some air went into the back of the intake but that cant be right bc it would be unchecked by the PCM

About the only other thing might happen is you damage the pump( dust, dirt, water, getting in there), but that just gives you an excuse to do the !AIR mod

i stuck a piece of cloth on the end and used the plastic clamp to hold it on, then stuffed it down in front of the radiator.
