Well that seems correct though I figured a faster idle for the f11 cam...any increased noise after the swap ?

Tally, do you have Patriot stage 2 LS6 heads + the F11 cam? Curious what kinda numbers you made.

Also, does the engine sound like a sewing machine compared to stock? As far as the idle, I actually would have though the F11 might even be a little smoother than the TR224.

Did you sacrifice much low-end? In all honesty, are you glad you made the swap?

Tally - what was your exhaust setup w/ the 224 vs. whats your exhaust setup w/ the F11? It seems like the F11 (228/230) would make more power than the tr224(224/224). Changing the exhaust at the same time, kinda makes the 9rwhp difference invalid since the flow numbers of your previous exhaust vs. your new exhaust could hvae been worse or better. Just a thought

Tally runs (or at least ran, last I met him) Patriot 5.3's. His exhaust was a custom dual cutout Y-pip merged with a Flowmaster Scavenger Merge collector into a single Flowmaster muffler, dumped before the axle. If I recall, he gained plenty with the cutouts open.

My car with the F11 does idle smoother than a friend's with a 224. I think Allan's tuning has a lot to do with my car idling the way it does though. Here are a few idle clips, F11 on a 112LSA with AS Stage II 5.3's, I'm making 455rwhp/413rwtq. Hooker catback with mufflex ORY by the way.

Blake, yeah I have heard ytour clips before and that sounds very smooth. Whats the idle set at? I was actually thinking of getting the F11 on a 114 for an even smoother idle. How is the valvetrain noise? Does your engine sound like a sewing machine? Can it be heard from inside the car when driving around casually?

My idle is set at 850rpm. Yes, I have sewing machine noise, but Jason told me it could probably be stopped with a slightly longer pushrod, I just really don't mind it. My roomate has the same setup, with no sewing machine noise at all, so it's definitely possible to set it up quietly.

I don't get it, how can your friend not have any noise but you do? In my opinion, either you install it properly or not. I didn't think there were variables where one car may be quiet while another sounds like a sewing machine. If thats the case I would tend to think the engines that are noisy are simply not setup properly. You are saying different size PR's, but is there a downside to the larger size which quiets the valvetrain? if not than it would make no sense why people wouldn't use the size that makes things quiet, no?

There are a few different variables that can cause the sewing machine sound. All types of heads are different, valves are seated at different depths, install heights come different. It's really not a bad thing to have a little slack, which is why I have the sewing machine sound. I could step up to a larger pushrod but I don't feel the need, as my car runs great, pulls strong to 6800rpm, and the sound doesn't bother me at all. When pushrod length was checked it fell right between 7.400 and 7.450, I chose to stay with the shorter pushrod at the recommendation of the person who set it all up. In my opinion it's not a "right" or "wrong".
