Default Need HELP- oil smells like gas???

The problem only started after my motor had been rebuilt. The motor now has between 2000 and 2500 miles on it. the oil smells like gas after even 100 miles on new oil so i have been changing it every 300 miles. I first thought it was the tune b/c i had a mail order tune and running 11.8-12.1 afr but ihad a dyno tune and now run 13.0 and the tuner did not know why i was having this problem. I was told by others that it could be my injectors leaking gas into the cylinders when i shut my car off but i just took off the intake and have keyed up the car to pressurize the injectors but none of them have dripped a drop. Thought it was the injectors since i bought a brand new fuel rail with 02 injectors. The motor was redone with all the mods in the sig with new bearings and gaskets everywhere. The car performs perfectly and i have had no other problem with the car, but it is getting costly to change my oil so often. Someone please help me to find my problem.

Jeff

I was just looking at the intake ports on the heads and noticed that the #7 and the #2 ports are stained a brownish color not sure if it i gas or oil and the rest of the ports on the heads are almost as clean as new. Not sure what it means but im sure someone else does.

It may be running too rich when cold, when it's in open loop. Did your dyno tuner look at the open loop parameters?

seems like you have money to play with. go to www.efilive.com and pick up a copy of their tuning package. You will also need a WBO2. Then follow the guide in my sig.

My 383 ran pig rich till i got the tune right

I am not sure if he checked the open loop parameters, but i ddi tell him the problem i was having and asked him to look at everything to see if it was the tune. He is supposed to be the best tuner in the area and did all of his tune for APE which is now out of business in south eastern michigan.

I dont really think it is the tune b/c i had it on the dyno after my 12.0 a/f runs a few months later for a dyno tune and it is now 12.9~13.1 with about 30 degrees timing.

You may not even have a problem. My oil smells like gas, but there's nothing wrong with it. Why don't you change the oil, run it for a while, then send it out for an oil analysis. Maybe you dont even have to worry! The oil analysis would be cheaper than trying to fix a non-existant problem.

did your tuner tune for part throttle application?

WOT is only part of the tuning process. I had a dyno tune done and my WOT was spot on. My oil smelled like fuel until i tune part throttle.

There is a lot more to tuning than just WOT.
