6.0 Block Questions
What all bolts need to be changed when i install my 6.0 block? I know about the altenator, and i think the AC compressor bolts. Is there anything else?

what have people done about the alternator??? do you drill and tap the third hole??? i just used the two bolts, red loctite'd them and torqued them to spec.... it makes a mild 500h.p. and has seen lots of drag use this season - it's holding up fine.

hmmm... That sounds like it may be a better idea, since i dont know too much about tapping holes. Also does cast iron usually get pretty bad surface rust on it where it isnt painted? And before i painted, i wire brushed everything pretty good, will any of the rust come through the paint. I used the highest grade VHT i could find, it was supposed to be good for 1300-2000 degrees

On my 6.0L iron block, the lower left hole in the alternator bracket lined up fine. There was no material there for the center hole at all. We had to tap the top right hole in an "ear" on the side of the block. It is a M10x1.5 tap - approx 1.25" deep. That, and you definitely want an LS2 head bolt kit. I found that out by surprise.

i guess since i got a used one the head bolts were the same, since my studs went in there fine today. But there isnt a problem with the A/C compressor braket? It seemed like the bottom, rear bolt doesnt have a hole.

Nope, that bracket bolts right up. No issue at all there. There's also a ground wire that used to be on the passenger side of the block that will need to be moved. We ended up putting that ground to the motor mount bolt. Oh, and you will also need a 17MM allen wrench or socket to remove a massive brass plug from the drivers side of the factory block to swap it over. I didn't have one so that became an extra errand. If you've got any questions feel free to PM me. This install is fresh in my mind as we just did it last week. Good luck!
